Andy Lake
Experience and skills: A graduate of Selwyn College Cambridge, Andy Lake is a specialist in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) for new ways of working and communicating. Activities in this field include implementation of new ways of working in large organisations, and leading research projects into the wider societal and environmental impacts of ICT. Research in this area has in particular focused on the field of “virtual mobility”, and the potential to contribute to sustainability through the replacement or modification of physical travel with online activity.
- Auditing IT provision and developing new online services at the Pensions Management Institute.
- Worked on several research projects for the UK government and the European Commission. Such projects include the European Foresight for Transport project and the STELLA project, which examine future transport scenarios in the context of economic, demographic and technological change, and a TACIS project bringing new work opportunities to former mining areas in Russia and the Ukraine.
- Andy also has worked as an evaluator for the EC Framework Programme (Information Society Technologies), and as a reviewer of bids to the UK Department for Transport.
